We're proud to share that Katy Carignan has been appointed to the Lawyers and Judges Assistance Committee for the State Bar of Michigan's 2026-2027 Bar year. The appointment, announced by incoming State Bar President Erika L. Bryant, begins October 1, 2026, and reflects the kind of service and leadership Katy has brought to her legal career and her community for years.
The Lawyers and Judges Assistance Committee plays an important role within the State Bar, supporting the wellbeing of attorneys and judges across Michigan. Serving on this committee takes real commitment, and we're grateful Katy said yes.
Anyone who knows Katy won't be surprised by this news. Her career has always been rooted in service, whether she's helping individuals build businesses, guiding nonprofits through 501(c)(3) matters, drafting contracts, or walking families through estate and trust administration. Long before she joined our firm, she was Director of Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and LegalArt, work that grew out of her lifelong passion for the arts and her belief that legal expertise should be shared generously with people who need it.
That spirit of community building shows up everywhere in Katy's life. In Rogers City, she co-founded the Stone House Studio, a home for arts and culture, and helped launch the Murals on Main Festival as its Fundraising Chair. She's active with the Northeast Michigan Women's Giving Alliance, founded an improv group, and is now helping bring a new yoga co-op and studio, Loftara, to life. Her volunteer résumé also includes past board service with Rogers City Community Theatre, work with the Presque Isle Garden Club, and involvement with MyMichigan Hospital Alpena's Planned Gifts Committee.
This appointment is a meaningful recognition of Katy's dedication, both to the legal profession and to the people it serves. We look forward to seeing the impact she'll make on the committee in the year ahead.
